Timmins, ON – Culture Days Provincial Task Force Members Karina Douglas-Takeyesu and Marnie Lapierre invite residents and visitors to support local culture and partake in these free activities during Culture Days this weekend.

Culture is a distinct part of our community’s identity and it is important to support its many forms.  Timmins is fortunate to have an incredible amount of opportunities to actively participate in cultural experiences from dance, music, literature, art and other genres lead by individuals and groups right here in our city.

There are 10 activities scheduled for the 30th and 1st this weekend.

ART+HEART is a monthly social gathering for artists and art enthusiasts. We meet at Christopher’s Coffee House between 1:00 and 4:00pm on the last Saturday of every month and discuss local arts, culture and related issues. Conversation ranges from talking about our favourite books and movies, to what local arts and culture events we’ve attended, to discussing the government’s role in promoting arts and culture. Do you have coins or paper money that have been inherited from family or acquired long ago and not sure their value? Drop in with them to the Timmins Library on Saturday September, 30 1 to 4 pm. Timmins Coin Club members with have a look at them and see if they are worth more than face value. We will not be certifying, or authenticating any coins or paper money. Join members of the Science Timmins Astronomy Club for an evening of stargazing at Hersey Lake! Telescopes and binoculars will be set up a short hike away from the main beach. Club members will guide visitors to the site. Dress warmly. We will have a camp fire at the main beach for warmth – bring along a chair and a snack, if you like. Open to all ages.
